How do I get a CT nursing license?

In order to be eligible to apply for your Connecticut Nursing license by examination, you should successfully complete a nursing program, which meets the requirements outlined in the Regulations of Connecticut State Agencies. If you have completed an external degree program, your application will be reviewed and approved on individual basis.

After completing your degree program, you should pass the National Council of State Boards of Nursing Licensing Examination-RN (NCLEX-RN). You should register for your exam through Pearson VUE website and pay $200 exam fee, if you are seeking to obtain U.S. licensure. For the Canadian or Australian license exam fee is different.

Then you may schedule your exam in the same website.

If you have already successfully passed your exam now you can apply for your Connecticut Nursing license. As paper applications are not accepted you can go through this link and apply online.

You will also need to pay $180 as an application fee.

Your official transcript of nursing education, diploma or certificate in nursing should be attached to your application.

You can also apply for a temporary permit, which is valid for 120 days. This will allow you to practice as a nurse, before you get your Connecticut Nursing License. You will need to pay $180 for the temporary permission.

Connecticut is not part of the nurse license compact. U.S. and Canadian nurses with active licenses apply by endorsement. If you already have a nursing license in another state, but you want to have a Connecticut Nursing license you will need to complete the application form through this link.

After receiving your Connecticut Nursing license, you will need to renew it annually. You will receive a notification 60 days before the license expiration day. You will need to pay $110 to renew your license.

How long does it take to get a CT RN license?

The duration you get your license depends on the education you choose. The National Council of State Boards of Nursing Licensing Examination-RN and license issuing process is the same. After submitting your license application and all the required documentations it will take approximately 4 weeks before you get your CT RN license.
